يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous

Zakat al-Fitr

Zakat al-Fitr  is a  charity  taken for the  poor  a few days before the end of  fasting  in the  Islamic holy month  of  Ramadan . An Overview of Laylatal al-Qadr: Revelation to Prophet Muhammad

Some commentators believe that the revelation of Quran occurred in phases, with the first phase being the revelation in its entirety on Laylat al-Qadr to the  angel   Gabriel  ( Jibril  in Arabic) in the lowest heaven, and then the subsequent verse-by-verse revelation to Muhammad by Gabriel.  The revelation started in 610 CE at the  Hira  cave on Mount Nur in Mecca.
